WHITBREAD PLC - SCRIP DIVIDEND
Whitbread announces that it will offer, subject to approval by shareholders at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting, a scrip alternative to the cash final dividend of 26.90p per ordinary share recommended for the year ended 26 February 2009 and future dividends. This will replace the existing dividend reinvestment plan. This alternative is proposed in order to give shareholders the opportunity to increase their shareholding without incurring dealing costs or stamp duty.
As previously announced, the recommended final dividend has a record date of 8 May 2009 and an ex dividend date of 6 May 2009. Further details of the scrip alternative will be circulated to shareholders in due course.
