BIS is offeringSynchronica's Mobile Manager product, a web based service that remotely managesSmartphones, to Small and Medium Enterprises and end users, under the brandRemote XT. If a mobile is lost or stolen, Remote XT subscribers can use the service to senda message over the air (OTA) to their device, which remotely wipes any data heldon the phone and locks the device to prevent unauthorized usage. The option ofhaving the phone emit a high-pitched scream is also available to subscribers ofthe £9.99 per month service. All data held on the device, such as phone numbers,text messages and emails, are wiped until the phone is returned to itslegitimate owner. Even if the SIM card is replaced on the device, the phone willremain disabled and will continue to emit the high-pitched scream until thebattery is removed. Commenting on the reseller agreement, Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronicasaid, "Using the RemoteXT service, crime victims can rest assured that theirinformation is safe from prying eyes. According to industry sources, it takes onaverage only 30 seconds for someone to notice that their phone is missing,compared to an hour for a wallet/purse.
