Sierra Leone Diamond Company Ld18 September 2006 For immediate release 18 September 2006 Sierra Leone Diamond Company Limited ("SLDC" or "the Company") First Diamond Sale from Alluvial Operations Sierra Leone Diamond Company Limited (AIM:SLD), the diamond exploration companywholly focused on the country of Sierra Leone is delighted to announce theresults of its first sale of rough diamonds from the alluvial operations in theKono district of Sierra Leone. At an open tender held in Antwerp, Belgium duringthe week of 4 September, a consignment of just over 3,000 carats ofgems achieved a price of $US 375 per carat. Including cheaper, lower qualitygoods, the total realised in the sale was $1,179,000. Richard Wake-Walker of WWW International Diamond Consultants who arranged thetender in Antwerp on behalf of SLDC commented: "The reaction to the SLDC production by diamond traders and polishers who viewedthe goods during the tender was extremely positive. The colour and quality ofthe gem parcels was much appreciated and diamantaires were pleased to see SierraLeone diamonds from an official source again. We are looking forward to helpingSLDC develop a successful long term marketing strategy through our office inAntwerp particularly with the medium to long term fundamentals for the diamondmarket being excellent with no over supply anticipated in the next 10 years." Mineral Rights SLDC is pleased to announce the granting by the Sierra Leone Ministry of MineralResources a further small licence (54.32 sq.km) to the company as of 1 July2006. This area of land lies just to the south of the highly prospective Sewa Licenceblock and is considered to be prime exploration property on the continuation ofthe postulated Tonga Panguma kimberlite trend. This licence acquisition completes SLDC's ground holdings in the south west ofthe country and is considered a high priority target .
