Rio Tinto PLC09 March 2005 Rio Tinto - board change Rod Eddington will join the boards of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited witheffect from 1 September 2005. He is currently chief executive of British Airways plc and a non executivedirector of News Corporation and John Swire & Sons Pty Ltd. Rod is an Australian citizen and was educated at the University of WesternAustralia and Oxford University where, as a Rhodes Scholar, he completed adoctorate in Engineering Science. He joined The Swire Group in 1979 and wasmanaging director of Cathy Pacific Airways from 1992 to 1996. He becamechairman of Ansett Airlines in 1997 and chief executive of British Airways in2000. He plans to return to Australia at the end of 2005.
