REVISED ESTIMATE OF LOSSES FROM NEW ZEALAND EARTHQUAKE
Amlin plc, the specialist international insurer, has raised its estimate of claims arising from the New Zealand earthquake of 4 September 2010. The revised estimate is principally driven by the increase of the range of insured loss estimates for the event in respect of a major client. Amlin's current estimate, based on client estimates at the top of the range, is therefore increased to US$160 million, an increase of US$85 million on the initial estimate of US$75 million. At current rates of exchange this is an increase of £55 million pre-tax.
