Result of the Rights Issue

Johnston Press Plc ("Johnston Press") today announces that, as at 11:00am on 23 June 2008, being the latest date for receipt of valid subscriptions, it had received valid acceptances in respect of 311,058,684 new Johnston Press ordinary shares, representing approximately 97.25 per cent of the total number of new Johnston Press ordinary shares offered to shareholders pursuant to the 1 for 1 rights issue announced on 14 May 2008 (the "Rights Issue").

In accordance with the arrangements set out in Part III of the Rights Issue prospectus dated 14 May 2008 (the "Prospectus"), Deutsche Bank AG, London branch ("Deutsche Bank") will be seeking subscribers for the remaining 8,811,199 new Johnston Press ordinary shares, for which valid acceptances were not received.

Definitions used in the Prospectus shall have the same meanings when used in this announcement unless the context otherwise requires.
