Response to Culture Secretary's statement
BSkyB notes today's statement by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, regarding News Corporation's proposal to acquire the shares in BSkyB that it does not already own.
The Secretary of State has published undertakings in lieu offered by News Corporation to address the concerns raised by Ofcom's report on public interest considerations in respect of media plurality. The undertakings, which will now be subject to a public consultation period ending on 21 March, are intended to ensure the continued editorial independence and integrity of Sky News.
BSkyB will continue to co-operate with the ongoing regulatory process.
