Byotrol plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce that a patent hasbeen granted in China for its unique biocidal technology, its first for thiscountry. The patent has been granted around six months earlier than the Company had beenforecasting and it will enable the Company to pursue a number of globalopportunities it is currently working on, with the confidence that its productswill enjoy patent protection within China. The Company currently has a number of other patents pending in the Far Eastincluding Singapore and the granting of the Chinese patent follows successfulapplications in the UK and South Africa which were granted in 2005 and 2004respectively. There are currently patents pending for the technology in numerousother countries including the USA, Europe, Canada and Australia and the Companyexpects these to be granted in due course. The successful patent application follows the recent announcements of EPAapproval in the USA and CE Mark approval in Europe and will enable sales ofByotrol technology in China to proceed under patent protection. The Company is currently engaged in discussions with a number of globalcompanies regarding deployment of Byotrol's technology and is pleased to able toannounce it has secured significant contracts in the industrial and foodprocessing sectors. The Directors consider these contracts demonstrate both theefficacy of Byotrol's technology and the ability of the management team toengage with major global organisations. Becker Industrial Coatings, one of the world's leading industrial coatingsmanufacturers has launched a range of anti-microbial coatings containing Byotrolunder the BeckryShield brand name. The launch follows extensive trialsundertaken to test the efficacy of Byotrol's technology and the BeckryShieldrange offers effective anti-microbial protection for up to 2 years. The Companywill receive revenues from the sale of concentrate and a royalty on salesachieved. The Company has recently shipped its first customer order to Gold Kist, one ofAmerica's largest poultry processing companies, which is using Byotroltechnology as part of its hygiene regime initially in its South Carolinaprocessing plant.
