Re: Sustainable Energy Fund Investments

Sigma Capital Group plc, the specialist asset management and advisory group focused on venture capital, property and the commercialisation of university IP, is pleased to announce that the Sigma Sustainable Energy Fund II ("SSEF II") has recently completed investments in two companies in deals worth a total of £3m.

The SSEF II has committed £1.5m to Ampair Energy Limited, a new company based in Dorset, which recently acquired the business and assets of Boost Energy Systems Limited, a company that designs and produces Ampair wind turbines, currently ranging from 100W to 6kW. Ampair wind turbines have been manufactured in the UK since 1973 and the latest model, the Ampair 6000, is a 6kW device which has been designed for worldwide use in grid-tied applications, commercial off-grid applications and rural electrification. Customers who have bought Ampair turbines include Shell, Cable and Wireless and Scottish and Southern Energy plc. The investment will be used to support development of larger turbines and expansion of the company's existing commercial activities.

The SSEF II also recently led a £1.5m investment in Energyflo Construction Technologies Limited ("ECT"). ECT's core technology, the Energyflo cell, is the world's first dynamic insulation and filtration product and is a direct replacement for conventional insulation products in most building applications. The technology lowers energy demand for both heating and cooling and therefore makes it easier and cheaper for developers to comply with emerging regulations relating to carbon reduction while also enabling thinner walls. Occupants benefit from lower energy costs and improved indoor air quality. The SSEF II's investment of £0.75m was matched by £0.75m from the Scottish Enterprise's Scottish Co-investment Fund. The investment will support the large-scale commercialisation of the Energyflo cell and the development of new products and markets.

Mark Hogarth, Investment Director at Sigma, said

"We are delighted to announce two new investments for the SSEF II. As demand grows for innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions, we believe that there are significant opportunities for companies, such as Ampair Energy and Energyflo Construction Technologies, who are developing new technologies in the clean energy and energy efficiency sector. We look forward to adding more companies to the SSEF II portfolio during the course of 2010."
