Go-Ahead Group PLC01 April 2005 1 April 2005 The Go-Ahead Group plc ("Go-Ahead" or the "Group") We are surprised and disappointed that Govia has not been selected by the SRA asa pre-qualified bidder for the Greater Western and Thameslink/Great Northernfranchises. The shortlisting process is complex and we will be seeking urgent feedback fromthe SRA to understand why Govia was not selected for either franchise. It is particularly disappointing that we have not been given the opportunity tobid for the Thameslink/Great Northern franchise. Currently, Thameslink'soperating performance is greatly improved and the company has an exemplarysafety record. The management of specific major projects such as the CTRLblockade and the new depot at Bedford have received widespread acclaim acrossthe rail industry. Despite this disappointment we remain optimistic about our future in the UK railindustry. Southern's major investment programme is creating huge improvementsacross the board, impacting on every aspect of the network, and we are ashortlisted bidder for the Integrated Kent franchise.
