Re: Duncan Sutherland's appointment
as Non-executive Director of HS2 Ltd
Sigma, the finance, property and urban regeneration specialist, is pleased to note the recent appointment of Duncan Sutherland, Chairman of the Group's regeneration subsidiary, Sigma InPartnership, as a Non-executive Director of HS2 Ltd ("HS2"), the independent company, owned by the Department for Transport, established to deliver a high speed rail network between London and the North of England. Duncan Sutherland was also appointed by Scottish Ministers as a Non-executive Director of the Scottish Canals Board earlier this year.
Duncan Sutherland is one of four Non-executive Directors who have been appointed to the Board of HS2 by the Secretary of State for Transport.
Duncan has previously held senior development roles working with Local Authorities, including Director of City Development in Coventry and Chief Executive of the property and investment arm of the City of Edinburgh Council. In 2001, he co-founded InPartnership (renamed Sigma InPartnership after its acquisition by Sigma in August 2011), which established exclusive long term partnerships with three major local authorities (Liverpool, North Solihull and Salford) to realise large scale, long term regeneration projects.
Graham Barnet, Chief Executive of Sigma, said,
"We are delighted that Duncan Sutherland, Chairman of our regeneration subsidiary, Sigma InPartnership, has been appointed by the Transport Secretary as a Non-executive Director of HS2, the company which will deliver the high speed rail network between London and the North of England.
Duncan's substantial experience in major regeneration and infrastructure projects both in the private and public sectors will be invaluable to HS2 as he works with the team to deliver this important and high profile project for the country."
