AJS joint venture awarded Shell ONEgas contract extension
London, United Kingdom (13 February 2014) - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, and its partners in the AJS joint venture, Jacobs and Stork, have secured a five-year plus further five-year option period contract extension for the Integrated Services Contract for the Shell ONEgas assets in the Southern North Sea.
ONEgas is a combined business unit of Shell UK Exploration & Production (Shell) and the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V. (NAM).
This major contract includes all 54 of ONEgas's offshore assets along with Shell's Bacton gas plant in the UK and the NAM-operated Den Helder gas plant in the Netherlands. About 1,250 people are employed by the joint venture, executing maintenance, modifications and capital projects across the UK and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.
AJS secured the contract extension as a result of excellent performance since the initial contract was awarded in 2003.
"This award recognises a decade of successful integrated delivery by AJS and demonstrates confidence in the future of ONEgas and the Southern North Sea," said Alan Johnstone, AMEC's Managing Director brownfield and asset management, Europe. "It rewards the hard work and success of over a thousand employees in the UK and in the Netherlands, and extends our great working relationship with Shell in the UKCS which remains unbroken since 1976."
