20 October, 2005 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $600 MILLION SHARE OF INDIAN ENGINE ORDER Rolls-Royce has won business worth $600 million as its share of an order forV2500 engines from IndiGo, the Indian low-cost start-up airline.Delhi-based IndiGo has selected the V2500 to power a fleet of 100 Airbus A320family aircraft. It is the single biggest firm order ever received byInternational Aero Engines (IAE), the consortium which produces the V2500, inwhich Rolls-Royce is a senior shareholder.Mike Terrett, President - Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, said: "This is asignificant, strategic success for IAE and Rolls-Royce in the burgeoning Indianmarket. It also means that the V2500 remains the only engine type selected byprivate sector airlines in India which have ordered the A320 series ofairliners."IndiGo becomes the launch customer for V2500Select¢â€ž¢, a combined engine upgradeand aftermarket support programme, which improves fuel burn, reduces operatingcosts and offers time-on-wing improvements.
