30 March, 2006 AIR DECCAN V2500 DEAL NETS $170 MILLION SHARE FOR ROLLS-ROYCE Rolls-Royce has won a $170 million share of a follow-on order for V2500 enginesfrom Indian low cost carrier, Air Deccan to power 30 additional Airbus A320family aircraft.This new engine order brings the number of V2500-powered A320s on order fromBangalore-based Air Deccan to 62.The V2500 is produced by the International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) inwhich Rolls-Royce is a senior shareholder. IAE's other partners are Pratt &Whitney of the United States, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTUAero Engines of Germany.Air Deccan was India's first low cost airline, formed in 1995. Its fleet alsocomprises of ATR-42s and ATR-72s.With a range of thrust from 22,000lb -33,000lb, the V2500-A5 is available topower the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.
