INTERSERVE JOINT VENTURE NAMED PREFERRED BIDDER FOR ‚£400m UNITED UTILITIESFRAMEWORKInterserve, the infrastructure and facilities management group, and itspartners in the KMI Plus joint venture have been named by United Utilities aspreferred bidder for one of the two places on its Process Partnership FrameworkAgreement. The framework agreement, known as process partner framework north,will cover the five-year period 2005-2010 and includes water and wastewaterprocess work in the north-west of England.Interserve's share of the ‚£400 million contract is expected to be around ‚£120million, with work on the AX4 process partner framework north expected to starton 1st April 2005.KMI Plus is a joint venture between Kier Construction, Murphy Group, Interserveand Mouchel Parkman. This new contract follows on from the successful KMIcontract which has to date successfully delivered ‚£230 million of work underUnited Utilities' AMP3 capital programme. As before, Interserve's managers andengineers will be seconded to the joint venture to operate alongside colleaguesfrom the other partners and United Utilities. Under AX4 the integrated teamwill deliver a range of water and wastewater facilities including new build,enhancements, asset renewal and refurbishment.United Utilities' Steven Beaumont, who has overall responsibility for thecompany's procurement and investment delivery process, said, "Delivering aninvestment programme of this scale requires careful management right from thevery start. We've got a significant challenge ahead of us to meet ourregulatory outputs and I know that with the right partners in place we will beable to meet our obligations and provide real value for money for our customershere in the North West."John Vyse, Executive Director of Interserve Plc, commented, "This contractdemonstrates the strength of Interserve's capabilities in the water sector. Ithas also recently announced contracts with both Severn Trent and Thames Waterworth ‚£150 million.END
