McAlpine (Alfred) PLC04 May 2007 4 May 2007 Alfred McAlpine plc Financial Close on first phase of Three Shires PFI Alfred McAlpine is pleased to announce that the Arden Partnership, its 50:50joint venture with Costain, has reached financial close on the £30m LincolnshireProject, the first of three phases of the £76.5m Three Shires batched mentalhealth PFI Scheme. This is the first batched PFI scheme in the UK. The Arden joint venture will provide equity and design, build and operate an8,500m2 Community Hospital and ancillary services over a four hectare site inSpalding, Lincolnshire. Costain will carry out the design and constructionworks, Alfred McAlpine will provide facilities management services and NIBC Bankwill act as sole lead finance arranger. The remaining two projects in the batched scheme are in Leicester and Derby andare due to reach financial close in the summer.
