ROLLS-ROYCE TRENTS FOR AVIANCA - FIRST IN LATIN AMERICA Colombia's Avianca has chosen Rolls-Royce Trent engines for up to 30 widebodyjets from Airbus and Boeing. The potential value of the contract to Rolls-Royceis $1.1 billion at catalogue prices. In addition, all the engines will besupported by Rolls-Royce under 10-year TotalCare service agreements.The order - the first for the Trent in Latin America - consists of Trent 1000engines for ten firm plus ten option Boeing 787s, and Trent 700s to power fivefirm and five option A330s.Avianca's President, Fabio Villegas, said: "Our evaluation proved the Trentsolution was ideal for our operations. Reliability and payload performance werekey factors in our choice of the Trent 700, and while incorporating latesttechnologies, the new Trent 1000 retains strong family characteristics whichmake it the best option for our 787s."Mike Terrett, President, Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce commented: "Avianca hasa clear vision of how its future will be shaped, and we're proud to be part ofits plans. The Trent family's record, and the design commonality which runsthroughout the engine series, has clearly been influential in this decision."The Trent 1000 is the launch engine for all versions of the 787 Dreamliner,which enters service in 2008. It is well on the way to achieving certificationby the airworthiness authorities, on schedule, later this year. The first pairof engines has been delivered to Boeing ready for the 787's rollout next month.

The Trent 700 is the market leader on the A330 with a 44 per cent share of orders. The engine is the most powerful available for the A330, and has improved fuel efficiency thanks to the incorporation of latest technologies from the Trent 1000.

2. Rolls-Royce is present throughout Latin America, where the Rolls-Royce

Brazil aftermarket centre at Sao Paolo in Brazil has served the region

since it was established more than 50 years ago.

3. It has supplied more than 2,000 AE3007 engines to Embraer for the ERJ 145

series of regional aircraft and Embraer also built the Rolls-Royce powered

AMX aircraft for the Brazilian air force.
