Ultra Electronics Holdings PLC27 September 2005 Embargoed until 0700 27 September 2005 Ultra Electronics Holdings plc ("Ultra" or "the Group") ULTRA SELECTED TO PROVIDE TARGETING POD FOR RAF TYPHOON AIRCRAFT Ultra announces that its Sonar & Communication Systems business, based inGreenford, Middlesex, has been selected by the UK MoD to supply and supportairborne laser targeting pods for the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. The MoDhas announced that it intends to make a single source, off the shelf procurementfor the UK that follows a competitive assessment carried out in 2000 byEurofighter GmbH/NETMA on behalf of all four nations participating in theTyphoon programme. It is intended that Ultra will prime the contract with Rafaelacting as the principal sub-contractor. Rafael is the design authority for theLitening EF 3rd generation targeting pod. The total value of the initialcontract for 20 pods is expected to be about £15m. The Litening pod will help provide Typhoon with a multi-role capability.
