Carillion PLC06 October 2005 6 October 2005 Carillion wins £110 million contract for London-Glasgow rail electrification Support services and construction company Carillion is pleased to announce thatGTBB, a 50:50 joint venture between Carillion and Balfour Beatty, has beenawarded a £110 million contract by Network Rail for the rail electrification onthe West Coast Mainline between London and Glasgow. GTBB will be responsible for modernising the overhead line equipment and powerdistribution infrastructure on the West Coast Mainline. The contract willdeliver 13 feeder stations and 620 miles of along-track high-voltage feeder tosupport faster train speeds and heavier traffic on Britain's busiest rail route. This contract follows the successful completion by the GTBB joint venture,working in partnership with Network Rail, of the first phase of the West CoastMainline Overhead Line Electrification and Distribution upgrade.
