Carillion PLC12 September 2006 Carillion joint venture appointed preferred bidder for South London clinicalcentres worth £35m per annum for five years Health services provider Clinicenta has been appointed preferred bidder for thedevelopment, construction and operation of two new surgical hubs and eightassessment and diagnostic centres in South London. Clinicenta is a 50:50 joint venture between Carillion, one of the UK's leadingsupport services and construction companies, and Lodestone Patient Care, aleading UK provider of diagnostic imaging services. Lodestone is a wholly-ownedsubsidiary of DCA Group Limited (Australia) and is part of the I-MED network,one of the world's largest private radiology networks. The principal facility under the contract is the provision of a new surgicalcentre at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup, with other existing facilitiesreceiving varying degrees of refurbishment. Clinicenta will deliver clinical services including ear, nose and throat,general surgery, ophthalmology, urology, trauma and orthopaedics at the new andrefurbished facilities from April 2008. John McDonough, chief executive of Carillion, said: "We are delighted to beworking with 11 Primary Care Trusts and 11 NHS Trusts to provide betterhealthcare services for the residents of South East and South West London. Thenew facilities will bring improved choice and access for NHS patients to local,high quality elective care and will make a key contribution to meeting theGovernment's 18-week waiting time target."
