Hydro International PLC06 January 2005 Hydro International plc Acquisition of Intellectual Property Hydro International plc has signed an exclusive agreement with Storm Train LLCand its founders Dave Woelkers and Dr Robert Pitt. Under the terms of theagreement, Hydro has acquired, for a nominal amount, the worldwide IntellectualProperty and commercialization rights to the "Upflow FilterTM". Hydro willcomplete development work on the product with the inventors and plans on takingthe product to market in the US and UK in Q2 2005. The Upflow FilterTM isdesigned to address increasingly stringent regulations that are targetingremoval of finer pollutants, heavy metals and nutrients from stormwater runoff.This removal is achieved through specialized filter media which requiresperiodic site maintenance and renewal. The Upflow FilterTM will complementHydro's existing portfolio of stormwater treatment devices that include theDownstream Defender(R) and the recently launched First Defense(R). The First Defense(R) is a cost-effective, simple hydrodynamic vortex separatorthat protects downstream water resources from polluted stormwater runoff byremoving sediments and floatables while at the same time functioning as aneffective catch basin. The First Defense(R) was developed in-house utilizingHydro's considerable expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
