13 December, 2007 EMIRATES TAKES TOTALCARE ON ROLLS-ROYCE TRENT 500s

Rolls-Royce announced today that Emirates Airline has signed a long-term TotalCare services agreement valued at $340 million covering fleet management of the carrier's Trent 500 engines. The contract relates to ten Rolls-Royce powered Airbus A340-500 aircraft.

Under the contract, Emirates will hand over full responsibility for management of the engine fleet at an agreed dollar rate per flying hour.

Adel Al-Redha, Emirates' Executive Vice-President - Engineering and Operations,said: "TotalCare provides us with a complete engine management solution that isspecifically tailored to our operation, and allows Emirates to more accuratelyforecast engine maintenance cost."Mick Forey, Senior Vice-President - Airlines at Rolls-Royce, added: "Airlinesare increasingly understanding the benefits that TotalCare agreements bring totheir business. This contract further strengthens our relationship withEmirates as it will enable us to offer an even greater level of support totheir operations."In addition to its ten A340-500s, Emirates also currently operates 29 AirbusA330s and 21 Boeing 777s, all powered by Rolls-Royce Trents. At the DubaiAirshow last month, Emirates placed an order worth $8.4 billion for Trent XWBengines for up to 120 Airbus A350 XWBs. These engines will also be covered by along-term maintenance agreement.

NOTE TO EDITORS:

1. Approximately half of today's Rolls-Royce civil engines fleet is covered by

TotalCare, or equivalent CorporateCare agreements for the business jet

market.

2. Over 90 per cent of Trent 500s are managed through TotalCare contracts.

3. The Trent 500 is the sole powerplant on growth versions of the four-engined

A340, which began commercial operations in 2002.

4. Rolls-Royce has a growing presence in the Middle East, where it is playing

5. The Trent engine family has been ordered by many Middle East customers,

including Qatar, Emirates, DAE, Etihad, ALAFCO and Gulf Air, powering

Boeing 777s, A330s, A350 XWBs and A340s. In addition, Etihad will be the

first operator in the region of the Trent-powered A380. The International

Aero Engines V2500 is also operated widely.

6. TotalCare, tailored for individual operators, offers a range of services

from Rolls-Royce covering all aspects of asset management in support of its

Civil Aerospace products. Building on the company's knowledge, experience

and infrastructure, these services include elements such as predictive

maintenance, logistics management, and global repair and overhaul

offerings. TotalCare can remove uncertainties from engine management and

improve operational reliability for operators through a mutually aligned

business relationship.
