30 March, 2005 ROLLS-ROYCE AND CATHAY PACIFIC AGREE TRENT MAINTENANCE DEAL Rolls-Royce and Cathay Pacific Airways have signed additional long-term servicecontracts worth a total of US$770 million for two more versions of the Trentengine in the Cathay Pacific fleet.The support packages, managed by Rolls-Royce under the banner of TotalCare,cover the Trent 800 engines on 17 Boeing 777s, of which 15 aircraft have beendelivered to date, and the Trent 500s which power Cathay Pacific's threeultra-long-range A340-600s.The agreements are in addition to existing TotalCare support for the Trent 700engines in Cathay Pacific's current fleet of 23 A330 twinjets, plus six furtheraircraft still to be delivered.Mike Terrett, President, Civil Aerospace, at Rolls-Royce, said: "This extensionof our partnership with Cathay Pacific demonstrates the value that TotalCarecan bring to our customers. Our unique position as the equipment manufacturermeans we can deliver a reliable and cost-effective service based on a jointunderstanding of the customer's operation and our engines."TotalCare agreements, tailored for individual customers, offer a range ofservices extending to aspects of support such as provision of lease engines, aswell as repair and overhaul. Rolls-Royce takes full responsibility for care ofthe engine fleet in return for payment by the customer of an agreed dollar rateper flying hour.This month marks a landmark occasion shared by Rolls-Royce and Cathay Pacific -the tenth anniversary of entry into service by the first of the Trent engineseries.
