Princess partnership Advent Latin America acquires Frango Assado
The Princess partnership Advent Latin America Private Equity has acquired 100% of Frango Assado, the leading operator of highway restaurants in Brazil. Founded in 1952, the company operates large-format restaurants and retail stores along the busiest roadways in São Paulo. The deal is Advent's sixth acquisition of a restaurant chain in Latin America in the past two years and an important aspect of the firm's strategy to consolidate the region's fragmented high-growth restaurant and casual dining segment. The businesses will be consolidated into a newly formed entity, International Meal Company, which will then be the largest casual dining restaurant group in Latin America.
Advent's investment in Frango Assado exemplifies the approach of private equity companies to create value through consolidation and subsequent efficiency improvements, such as economies of scale and scope. In the current market environment value creation through strategic and operational enhancements is a key element to achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns.
