Q1 Trading Update and

Benchmarked Performance

Share, which operates The Share Centre Limited ("The Share Centre"), a leading independent retail stockbroker, is pleased to provide an update on the Group's trading in the first quarter of the financial year ending 31 December 2019, and on its market share by revenue for this period relative to a peer group of 15 other UK retail stockbrokers*. The market share data used is generated by Compeer Limited, the independent business performance benchmarking company.

In a challenging market environment, with the London Stock Exchange reporting that the number of trades for the first quarter was 27% down on the same period in 2018, the Group showed a resilient performance. Commission and fee revenues for the first quarter increased by 2% on the same period in 2018. This compared to a decrease of 3% for the peer group in the quarter. Continuing the momentum seen in the second half of 2018, the Group also generated an operating profit in the first quarter. This reflects the benefits of the acquisitions made in 2018 and the Group's digital transformation strategy.

The Group's market share of revenues excluding interest, relative to its peer group, was 3.70% in the first quarter of 2019 (Q1 2018: 3.54%). This compares with 3.90% in the fourth quarter of 2018. The table below shows the Group's quarterly market share of revenues excluding interest since Q1 2017:
