PuriCore's Aqualox® System Confirmed for Use by EPA
Proven Effective, Green Biocide Targets Frac Water
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA, AND STAFFORD, UK, 17 January 2012 - PuriCore(LSE: PURI), the water-based clean technology company, today announces it has received confirmation from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its Aqualox System as an oil and gas biocide. The Aqualox System generates on-site a proprietary, environmentally safe biocidal solution formulated for applications including in the oil and gas industry to treat hydraulic fracturing (or frac) water, which is used to open deep subterranean natural gas reserves. Aqualox is a highly effective biocide that does not damage fracking stimulation fluids and gel agents or cause corrosion.
Christopher Wightman, Executive Chairman, said:
"The potential for hydraulic fracturing (or fracking) to transform the US oil and gas industry is well known. Also well documented are the environmental concerns attaching to the process. We believe that our environmentally benign technology has a major role to play in this industry, and this approval confirms these environmental credentials. As we have developed our technology over recent years, we are now in a position to commercialise it in respect to the oil and gas industry, and will seek to do so during 2012."
