London, 10 December 2009 - The Company was notified on 10 December 2009, that on that date Donald McAlister, Finance Director of Mwana Africa PLC, purchased 200,000 ordinary shares at a price of 14.8p per share. 

Following this transaction, Donald McAlister has a total beneficial interest in the Company of 200,000 shares.
