Purchase of Shares by Director

London, 28 August 2008 - The Company was notified on 28 August 2008, that on that date Oliver Baring, Executive Chairman of Mwana Africa PLC, purchased 20,000 ordinary shares at a price of 31p per share. These shares were acquired by Oliver Baring's pension fund.

Following this transaction, Oliver Baring's total beneficial interest in the Company increased to 1,057,976 shares.
