Cable & Wireless Communications Plc ("CWC") announced on 13 January 2013 that it had agreed with CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited the sale of the Group's 51% shareholding in Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau S.A.R.L. for a total consideration of US$749.7 million.

A circular will be posted to shareholders today which contains further details of the Disposal, together with a notice convening a General Meeting of the Company to consider and, if thought fit, approve the Disposal. The General Meeting will take place on Thursday 28 February, 2013 at 9.30am.

A copy of this circular will be available on the Cable & Wireless Communications Plc website at www.cwc.com. The document has also been submitted to the National Storage Mechanism and will shortly be available for inspection at: www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/NSM.

Definitions found in this announcement are consistent with those set out in the circular.

Copies of the circular along with forms of proxy will be posted to shareholders who have opted to receive paper copies of shareholder communications from the Company. Where shareholders have elected to receive communications from the Company in electronic form and have provided an email address to the Company, the Company's registrar will send an email notification to such shareholders alerting them to the availability of the circular on the Company's website. Such shareholders may appoint proxies for the General Meeting electronically by visiting the Shareview website at www.shareview.co.uk. Where shareholders have elected or are deemed to have elected to receive communications from the Company in electronic form but the Company does not have such shareholders' email addresses, the Company will post the form of proxy for the General Meeting along with a notification to such shareholders to alert them of the availability of the circular on the Company's website.
