Acta S.p.A. ("Acta" or the "Company")
Product Launch Confirmation
Acta, the clean-tech catalysts and products company, is pleased to confirm the trade launch of its innovative, low cost, hydrogen generator for recharging fuel cell products and applications.
Following the success of initial test marketing the Company has decided to proceed with a programme of trade shows in target market areas to highlight the performance and benefits of its clean technology product range to both consumers and distribution channel partners. The initial European trade show programme will include the following dates:
10 - 15 November: International Motorcycle and Cycle Show, Green Planet Section (Milan)
17 - 19 November: Marine Equipment Trade Show, Innovation Section (Amsterdam)
25 - 27 November: High Tech Expo, Hydrogen Show Section (Milan)
4 - 8 December: International Motorshow, Eco-City Area (Bologna)
At the above shows Acta will be demonstrating its compact hydrogen generator, together with examples of the fuel cell products that can be recharged using it, such as a fuel cell-powered electric bicycle,
compact 100W and 200W fuel cell power generators, and a 1kW fuel cell generator to power an electric outboard motor. In addition, a fuel cell bicycle and recharger supplied by Acta will be awarded as the first prize for a rally competition event to be held during the Bologna International Motorshow.
Presentation of the hydrogen generator and related fuel cell products at two sailing and motor yacht trade fairs during October 2009, generated significant commercial interest both from consumers (for silent onboard power generation) and from manufacturers (for a fuel cell power generator to replace the battery pack of an electric outboard motor). Further commercial negotiations are now in progress in this sector for supplying the hydrogen generator to yacht shipyards for onboard installation in luxury yachts.
The hydrogen generator, fuel cell bicycle, and 100W/200W power generators will be available for sale at the trade shows. Product shipments will be available from January 2010.
Paolo Bert, Chief Executive, Acta, commented:
"Our involvement in this programme of trade fairs is an important step in the commercialisation of our unique hydrogen generator, and will allow us to assess market demand and partnership opportunities. As previously announced, we envisage that we will achieve full commercialisation of this product by mid-2010, with first orders received before the end of 2009 and product shipment commencing in the first quarter of 2010."

About Acta
Acta develops and manufactures clean technology products and unique patented catalysts which have been launched to the renewable energy, automotive, battery and industrial markets. Acta is also developing other commercial opportunities using its catalysts for industrial waste treatment.
Acta's catalysts and alkaline system know-how are at the heart of the Company's development of a new, high pressure water electrolyser technology which has demonstrated low cost, platinum free, high pressure hydrogen generation. Combined with a platinum free fuel cell, the system offers a solution to the problem of how to store surplus energy produced from large scale, intermittent renewable energy sources (eg wind farms). In addition, the low cost, small size and simplicity of the hydrogen generator makes it ideally suited as a recharger of commercial fuel cell applications (fuel cell bikes, electrical generators, UPS systems, etc).
Acta's catalysts are also undergoing customer tests in applications such as ammonia treatment (removal of ammonia from an industrial waste stream), and zinc-air batteries (a high performance and environmentally friendly battery technology), as well as fuel cell and other applications.
