Princess completes direct mezzanine investment
Princess Private Equity Holding Limited (Princess) during the month of September made a direct mezzanine investment into Securitas Direct, the Swedish headquartered provider of monitored alarm solutions for residential and small business customers. The mezzanine investment, which is in line with Princess' new focus on direct investments, was made in support of the recent acquisition of Securitas Direct by Bain Capital and Hellman & Friedman. Securitas Direct has shown strong year on year growth during the past few years and has a leading market share in its key home markets. The credit quality is reinforced by a subscription-based business model with a large portion of recurring revenue, which is supported by a broad customer base of close to 1.4 million clients.
Thanks to its mature portfolio, Princess experienced a high level of realization activity over recent quarters. Notably, in August, Princess received a EUR 7.0 million distribution from the previously announced exit of Jack Wolfskin, the German maker of outdoor clothing and one of Princess' five largest portfolio companies in terms of net asset value (NAV). The sale of Jack Wolfskin generated a return of more than ten times the original purchase price. Overall, distributions from successful exits continued to outpace new investments during the month of August.
Urs Wietlisbach, member of Princess' Board of Directors and Executive Vice Chairman of Partners Group, the Investment Advisor, commented: "We believe that the mezzanine investment in Securitas Direct offers a particularly attractive risk return profile, which partly stems from the company's recession-resilient business model. The EUR 7.0 million distribution from the successful Jack Wolfskin exit further strengthens Princess' net cash position, and we remain confident that the on-going transition of the portfolio towards direct investments, together with the attractive dividend yield on the share price, should create further value for Princess' shareholders."
Ends.
