British Safety Council Following on from the recent award of the British Safety Council 5 Star Awardfor Health & Safety for the fifth time in the past six years, Cape has beenawarded the British Safety Council's prestigious Sword of Honour for the thirdtime in five years. The Sword of Honour is one of only forty awarded worldwideby the British Safety Council and recognizes organizations that have implementedsafety systems that are among the best in the world. In congratulating Cape and the other award winners, Mr. David Ballard, ChiefExecutive of the Council said: "Today we have with us some of the safestcompanies in the world. Winning the Sword of Honour is a difficult butworthwhile achievement, and because we limit the number of Swords awarded toforty each year worldwide, you can count yourselves as being among a small butvery distinguished band." A message of congratulations to all recipients was also sent by Prime MinisterTony Blair who stated, "These awards recognize the crucial success of theseorganizations and their employees in their pursuit of excellence in themanagement of health, safety and environmental matters." Other awards Blue-chip client Alcan has named Cape its 'Supplier of the Year' for theirLockahar and Lynemouth sites, with particular recognition given to Cape's Health& Safety excellence throughout 2006. Cape has also been awarded 'Overall Best Contractors' Safety Performance' forthe work carried out on the Unit 1 overhaul at the Longannet Power Station,which included the erecting and dismantling of 100 miles of scaffolding tube,boards and fittings, the provision of insulation, asbestos removal, industrialcleaning, rope access and the removal of over 200 tonnes of fly ash fromconfined spaces. Cape is also pleased to announce that its operations on Sakhalin Island haveachieved the milestone of working one million man hours without a Lost TimeIncident.
