Kazakhmys PLC24 January 2008 24 January 2008 KAZAKHMYS PLC ANNOUNCES VISIT OF PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN TO ZHEZKAZGAN Kazakhmys PLC ("Kazakhmys", or the Group) announces that today the President ofKazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, visited the Kazakhmys operations andfacilities at Zhezkazgan, along with other members of the Government andbusiness leaders in Kazakhstan. The principle purpose of the visit was to discuss the importance of CorporateSocial Responsibility and the role that companies, both local and international,should play in assisting social development. Zhezkazgan was chosen for themeeting because of the key role that Kazakhmys has played in the area and thetrip highlighted the substantial commitment and investment of the Group withinthe communities surrounding its operations. This is the largest corporate socialprogramme in Kazakhstan. In the course of the visit, Vladimir Kim was asked about operations andconfirmed that production in 2007 had been in line with the guidance given inSeptember. Vladimir Kim, Chairman of Kazakhmys said: "We are delighted to have been able tohold this meeting here today and to show some of the social programmes that wehave carried out.
