De La Rue PLC14 September 2006 DE LA RUE PLC PRE CLOSE PERIOD TRADING UPDATE Prior to entering the close period for the half year ending 30 September 2006,the Board of De La Rue plc issues the following trading update: Trading during the first half has continued to be strong, supported by a highopening order book. In Security Paper and Print, higher base volumes of banknotes and paper togetherwith strong overspill levels have more than offset less favourable contract mixand contributed to better than anticipated first half trading. In Cash Systems, the benefits of the restructuring actions completed in thesecond half of last year and continued growth in the US Teller Automation marketare expected to result in significant improvement in first half trading comparedwith last year. The strong trading in the first half gives the Board confidence for the fullyear outcome.
