Post Year-End Trading Statement
The Company's full year results will be announced in early April 2013 with revenues anticipated to be ahead of, and profit in line with, expectations.
As previously stated, the second half has reflected the impact of a full period of trading and of our substantially enlarged fleet. This makes like-for-like comparisons on a six months or year-on-year basis academic.
During the second half, gross margin increased to 38.4% and corporate EBITDA improved, such that the Company will deliver positive EBITDA for the year as a whole.
The outlook for 2013 is strong. As previously anticipated, with increasing utilisation of the company's assets, the "Events" programme is expected to have its 520 room inventory fully deployed from March, with bookings for all B2C events currently running at encouraging levels.
The Company is continuing to develop its programme of longer term contracts with major corporate partners. Installation is currently underway for 58 rooms at Thorpe Park in March with a plan to increase this to 117 rooms by July under an agreement with Merlin Entertainments.
Additionally, following the grant of a longer term planning permission, the core 80 room hotel at Silverstone has moved to its new position in the centre of the circuit and will open in March. After a slower than expected start, trading at the 80 room unit deployed at Stoneleigh Park is now strengthening and a request has been received for the return of the unit in September 2013 for the winter conference season, a month earlier than expected, due to the encouraging level of bookings. A number of discussions regarding further corporate contracts are also progressing well.
The Company continues to develop its Contrax and International programme. Here again, detailed discussions in respect of both divisions are progressing well and the Company expects material contributions from both sources in 2013.
The Company is also pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Tweddle as Head of Hotel Operations. Melanie recently joined Snoozebox and comes with a wealth of hotel experience at 4 and 5 star levels. She started her management career with De Vere Hotels and successfully managed the 5 star De Vere Royal Bath and more lately was Operations Director at Warner Leisure Hotels where she moved the business from a 3 star to a 4 star operation and won AA Hotels of the Year 2012. We believe Melanie will be an important and exciting addition to our team.
