17th Sep 2007 07:02

Energetix Group plc17 September 2007 Press Release 17th September 2007 Energetix Group plc ("Energetix" or "the Group") Energetix Subsidiary, Pnu Power, Wins South African Utilities Order Energetix Group plc (AIM: EGX), a leading developer of new and sustainablealternative energy products, is pleased to announce that its uninterruptiblepower supply ("UPS") subsidiary, Pnu Power (or "the Company"), has received itsfirst order from South African electricity utility, Eskom, one of the largestelectric utilities in the world. The order comprises a single unit of the company's TC1 compressed air UPS, foruse by Eskom as standby power in a telecommunications base station. Furtheropportunities for Pnu Power's cost-effective, safe and low-maintenance systemsexist on the Eskom network, in South Africa's harsh and remote environments. Eskom mainly uses traditional lead-acid UPS that have reliability and lifecycleproblems. Eskom has recently been evaluating alternative to batteries includingflywheels and hydrogen-powered fuel cells based on Proton Exchange Membranetechnology ("PEM"). Some of the disadvantages of these technologies, compared tocompressed air, include: o production, transit and storage of hazardous chemicals (e.g. hydrogen and battery acid) o expense of the battery or PEM components, chemicals and other consumables o requirement for cooling systems and fluids, with additional reliability implications o level of skills and training required to install and maintain the units. The battery segment of the UPS market is worth in excess of £1.2bn per annum, with three quarters of that demand coming from data, telecommunications andbroadcasting. Adrian Hutchings, CEO Energetix Group plc, commented: "Given that Eskom provides95% of South Africa's electricity requirements, this order, although small, represents a significant opportunity for and validation of Pnu Power'scost-effective, safe and low-maintenance UPS technology. We firmly believe thatthis technology will score highly against Eskom's key performance indicators of:reliability; life expectancy; lifecycle cost; simplicity of installation andmaintenance; operational performance; and safety. We look forward to workingclosely with Eskom, and identifying further opportunities for Pnu Power systemson their network. Furthermore, the timing of this order is very beneficial as the Company isattending and demonstrating the TC1 Product at Intelec, the annualtelecommunications energy systems conference in Rome, at the end of this month." - ENDS - For further information:Energetix Group plcAdrian Hutchings, Chief Executive Officer Tel: +44 (0) 151 348 2111Richard Smith, Chief Financial Officer Tel: +44 (0) 151 348 2116 www.energetixgroup.com Zeus Capital 0161 831 1512Alex ClarksonBen Thompson www.zeuscapital.co.uk BankOra Limited 020 7099 1940Michael Brennan Henry Turcan www.bankora.com Media enquiries: Abchurch Communications 020 7398 7700Justin HeathMonique [email protected] www.abchurch-group.com About Energetix Group plc Energetix was established by Adrian Hutchings in 1997, having spent the previousfour years at British Nuclear Fuels plc ("BNFL") developing alternative energyproducts and identifying new business ventures for energy systems.
