Augean plc
("Augean" or the "Group")
Planning Permission Implemented
Augean plc, one of the UK's market leaders in the management of hazardous waste, has implemented its lawful planning permission at the East Northants Resource Management Facility ("ENRMF" or the "Site") and commenced the receipt of consignments of Low Level Waste ("LLW").
These consignments have allowed the thorough testing of our procedures and operational management systems. All relevant regulatory parties were involved in overseeing the deliveries of waste and highly commended the conditions for acceptance protocols.
The permission has been implemented following the withdrawal of an application for an injunction against the receipt and disposal of LLW at ENRMF, although remains subject to a legal appeal concerning clarification of a narrow point of planning law. The Group has been advised that the Court of Appeal hearing is scheduled for the week commencing 16 January and intends to continue to strongly defend its position.
Over the coming weeks the Group intends to continue engaging with clients in the nuclear decommissioning, medical, site remediation and research markets to develop commercial opportunities and if the Court of Appeal rules in favour of Augean the Group expects the Site to be made available to the entire LLW market during the first quarter of 2012.
