Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited15 March 2006 Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited Patent portfolio extended Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited ("CFCL") is pleased to announce that it has beengranted a new patent in Japan, for a coating used on electrical interconnects infuel cells. CFCL believes this innovation can provide a cost-efficient means of reducing thecontact resistance within a solid oxide fuel cell stack, which increases thepower output of the stack, ultimately leading to lower cost and higherefficiency. The Japanese patent joins patents granted to CFCL for the same invention in theUK, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. This new Japanese patent gives CFCL a total of 46 granted patents. These arecontained in 28 patent families (each family represents a single inventioncovered in multiple jurisdictions) that have been granted or are in the processof being examined by the various Patent Offices. These inventions cover many aspects of fuel cell technology and associatedbalance of plant systems developed by CFCL since 1992, across a range of fuelcell designs and materials. This broad portfolio gives CFCL significant scope toexpand its future designs and product options and offers opportunities forfuture revenue streams.
