PASSING OF DIRECTOR MR. GONZALO MENENDEZ

Antofagasta plc announces with deep sadness and regret that Non-Executive Director Mr. Gonzalo Menendez passed away over the weekend, following a period of illness. Mr. Menendez, aged 70, had been a Non-Executive Director of Antofagasta plc since 1985. His involvement with the Group dates back to the beginning of 1980s, when he was appointed General Manager of the Group's railway business. Since then, Mr. Menendez has played a key role in the growth and development of the Group, most recently through his contribution to the stewardship and oversight of the Group in his role as Non-Executive Director.
