Cluff Gold PLC17 August 2006 17 August 2006 CLUFF GOLD PLC Encouraging drill results from Angovia Gold Project, Cote d'Ivoire Update on Baomahun Gold Project, Sierra Leone Angovia Cluff Gold Plc ("Cluff Gold" or "the Company") today announces assay resultsfrom the ongoing reverse circulation (''RC'') drill programme at the AngoviaGold Project ("Angovia" or "the Project") in Cote d'Ivoire. Further resultshave now been received from Prospects 2, 3 and 4. Highlights: • 5,700 metres of drilling completed to date • Established mineralised trends confirmed by infill drilling results • Mineralisation remains open along strike and down dip of the four satellite deposits drill tested to date. • Oxide ore from all satellite deposits treatable in a central heap leach plant • Best intercepts: • ARC49 intersects 47m @ 2.62 g/t Au • ARC122 intersects 3m @ 38.99g/t Au (including 1m @ 114.37g/t Au) • ARC118 intersects 1m @ 48.33 g/t Au The infill drilling is being done at fifty-metre centres between sections inorder to confirm continuity of mineralisation. Below is a table of some of the significant intersections encountered in holesat all Prospects using a cut off grade of 0.5g/t Au: Hole ID Dip (degrees) Intercept From (m) Prospect Comment ARC49 45 [email protected]/t 2 4ARC49 45 [email protected]/t 20 4ARC49 45 [email protected]/t 54 4ARC49 45 [email protected]/t 69 4ARC50 45 [email protected]/t 52 4ARC50 45 [email protected]/t 73 4ARC50 45 [email protected]/t 85 4ARC50 45 [email protected]/t 96 4ARC50 45 [email protected]/t 120 4ARC51 55 [email protected]/t 41 4ARC51 55 [email protected]/t 83 4ARC51 55 [email protected]/t 89 4ARC52 55 [email protected]/t 46 4ARC52 55 [email protected]/t 63 4ARC52 55 [email protected]/t 81 4ARC117 50 [email protected]/t 15 2ARC117 50 [email protected]/t 24 2ARC117 50 [email protected]/t 49 2ARC118 50 [email protected]/t 1 2ARC118 50 [email protected]/t 13 2ARC118 50 [email protected]/t 19 2ARC119 50 [email protected]/t 5 2ARC120 50 [email protected]/t 26 2ARC122 50 [email protected]/t 46 2 Including [email protected] 7g/t from 46m ARC124 50 [email protected]/t 1 3ARC124 50 [email protected]/t 49 3ARC125 50 [email protected]/t 21 3ARC125 50 [email protected]/t 27 3ARC126 50 [email protected]/t 8 3 The current drilling is being undertaken to define near surface oxide resourcesfrom the four satellite deposits - Prospect AN2, Prospect 2, Prospect 3 andProspect 4 - tested to date. It is planned that the ore from these depositscould be trucked and treated in the recently purchased heap leach processingplant, located centrally in the Angovia permit area. Historical data fromCOGEMA's previous mining activities demonstrates that heap leach recoveries ofup to 80% are achievable for the near surface oxide ore using the existingplant. The vertical depth of oxidation in the drilled out areas is 70 metres. Theunderlying sulphides below the satellite ore bodies, and the areas which wereformerly mined for oxides by COGEMA, will be investigated in due course. Themineralisation remains open along strike and down dip of the four satellitedeposits drill tested to date. Douglas Chikohora, Technical Director of Cluff Gold plc, comments, "The latestinfill assay results at Angovia continue to confirm the continuity ofmineralisation on the Angovia project and demonstrate good gold grades. We awaitthe assay results from the remaining holes from Prospect 3 before undertaking aresource update in early September.'' Baomahun A resource update is underway at the Baomahun Gold Prospect in Sierra Leonefurther to the follow up drilling programme which was conducted to define thestrike and down dip extensions of the Eastern, Central and Western zones of thedeposit. This update is expected to be announced by the end of the month. Yaoure, Cote d'Ivoire The Mt. Yaoure permit is located 40km northwest of Yamoussoukro, the politicalcapital of Cote d'Ivoire, and covers a surface area of 534km(2). The licencearea includes the Angovia gold mine which operated between 1998 and 2003. Themine reportedly produced over 180,000 ounces of gold during this period by heapleaching some 2 million tonnes of oxide material. The Cote d'Ivoire governmenthas issued a certificate to CMA, a subsidiary of COGEMA, the French uraniummining group, evidencing that it has complied with the work prescribed by themining regulations relating to the protection of the environment and therestoration of the part of the licence area covered by the Angovia gold mine. The infrastructure in the area is good and includes a hydroelectric dam sixkilometres from the Angovia mine site. About Baomahun: Baomahun is located about 180 km east of the capital of Sierra Leone, Freetown,in the Southern Province of the country and the geological setting is similar tothe Lake Victoria goldfields in Tanzania. Cluff Gold has a right to earn a 60%interest in Baomahun by funding the project to the completion of a bankablefeasibility study or to a maximum of US$5 million. This right is to be acquiredfrom Winston Mines which owns the two exploration licences relating to Baomahun, covering an area of approximately 137 km(2).
