OPERATING RESULTS FOR THE third QUARTER OF 2011 AND THE FIRST NINE MONTHS OF 2011
Open Joint Stock Company "TransContainer" ("TransContainer" or the "Company") (LSE: TRCN) announces its preliminary operating results for the third quarter of 2011 and for the first nine months of 2011.
Rail container transportation volumes
The Company's rail container transportation volumes for the third quarter of 2011 increased by 9.3% to 346 thousand twenty-foot equivalent units ("TEU") compared to 317 thousand TEU in the third quarter of 2010. This was mainly due to an increase in export transportation which went up by 19 thousand TEU, or 28.7%.

The Company's rail container transportation volumes for the first nine months of 2011 increased by 15.0% to 1 000 thousand TEU compared to 869 thousand TEU in the first nine months of 2010, mainly due to an increase in import and export transportation. Domestic transportation volumes in the first nine months of 2011 rose by 10.2% to 575 thousand TEU.

Revenue-generating container transportation* volumes grew by 13.4% to 260 thousand TEU in the third quarter of 2011 as compared to 230 thousand TEU in the third quarter of 2010. For the first nine months of 2011 revenue-generating container transportation volumes increased by 18.3% to 744 thousand TEU as compared to 629 thousand TEU for the same period of 2010.
TransContainer's estimated market share decreased slightly to 51.3% for the nine months of 2011.

Terminal handling
Throughput of the Company's rail container terminal network in the third quarter of 2011 decreased by 19 thousand TEU, or 4.6% to 393 thousand TEU, compared to 413 thousand TEU in the third quarter of 2010. This decrease mainly resulted from a sharp decrease of medium-duty containers (MDC) handling by 47 thousand TEU, or 58.2%, which was partially offset by an increase in ISO container handling by 28 thousand TEU, or 8.3%. For the first nine months of 2011, the Company's terminal handling volumes amounted to 1,177 thousand TEU, representing an increase of 75 thousand TEU, or 6.8%, compared to the same period of 2010.
