Sainsbury(J) PLC09 April 2008 9 April 2008 SAINSBURY'S ANNOUNCES CHANGE TO OPERATING BOARD Sainsbury's has appointed Roger Burnley to the new role of retail and logisticsdirector on the company's operating board. Roger was previously supply chaindirector. This move consolidates responsibility for the supermarket's store anddepot operations and will be effective from April 21. In January 2008 it was agreed that Ken McMeikan, previously retail director,would take a sabbatical. Ken has decided to take up the position of chiefexecutive of Greggs plc, effective from June 2008, and will therefore not bereturning to Sainsbury's. Justin King, Sainsbury's chief executive said: "Over the past three years Kenhas made a significant contribution to our recovery and I wish him every successfor the future. Following Ken's decision, I believe that this is an appropriatemoment to now bring the management of our retail and logistics operationstogether. Huge progress has been made in our performance during the past threeyears of our Making Sainsbury's Great Again plan. This move will allow us tocontinue to improve the performances of both our stores and depots, ensuring wedeliver an even better service to our customers.
