Sainsbury(J) PLC12 August 2005 12th August 2005 J SAINSBURY PLC ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGE Sainsbury's today announces that Roger Burnley (39) will join Sainsbury'soperating board as supply chain director, to replace Lawrence Christensen. Roger joins the company from Matalan where he is currently supply chaindirector. He spent his early career in retail management and buying at B&Qbefore joining Asda/Walmart, where he held a number of positions before becomingsupply chain director in 2001. Roger's starting date will be confirmed shortly. Roger will initially workalongside current supply chain director, Lawrence Christensen to ensure anorderly handover of responsibilities. Lawrence initially joined Sainsbury's inSeptember 2004 for a set term of 16 months, however, this has been extended andhe will continue to support the management team in an advisory capacity untilDecember 2006. Sainsbury's chief executive, Justin King, said: "Lawrence has been an integralpart of the team and has made a massive contribution to improving our supplychain and the service we provide our customers. I am delighted that he hasagreed to stay on and support the business through the next year. "We look forward to Roger's arrival.
