As part of theagreement, Appian has taken an equity position, with an option to increase thisshareholding at a defined price in the future. Civica is a leading global software-based solutions group focussed on developingand distributing technology products for the US Government and law enforcementagencies. Under the terms of the agreement, Civica will integrate Appian'sTalonSPTM recognition engine into its proprietary hardware and software system,PlateScanTM, to create a superior product that enables customers to proactivelyidentify vehicles of interest during routine patrols. The new integrated systemis already generating considerable interest, with the first sale recentlyagreed.
