Retirement of Messrs Akintoye and Alli from the Board of Guaranty Trust Bank plc
Lagos Nigeria - June 30, 2016: we write to notify you of the retirement of Mr Akindele Akintoye and Mr Andrew Alli as independent Non-Executive Directors of Guaranty Trust Bank plc ('the Bank") with effect from June 30, 2016.
Mr Akintoye and Mr Alli were appointed to the Board of the Bank in June 2008, and served the Bank meritoriously during their tenure on the Board. Their retirement is in compliance with the provisions of the Code of Corporate Governance of the Bank and the Central Bank of Nigeria Code of Corporate Governance for Banks in Nigeria, which stipulate that the tenure for Independent Non-Executive Directors shall not exceed two (2) terms of four (4) years each; (eight(8) years).
The aforementioned Directors having both spent eight (8) years have accordingly retired from the Board.
