Cable and Wireless plcExtraordinary General MeetingCable and Wireless plc (the "Company") announces that it is today posting acircular to its shareholders (the "Circular") comprising: - * an explanatory statement in respect of the Company's intention to terminate its registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") and its SEC reporting and other applicable obligations; and * notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting ("EGM") to amend its Articles of Association to enable such termination. The Company will only be able to file for de-registration from the SEC once thenumber of US Shareholders, whether holding directly or through nominees, fallsbelow 300. The resolution to be put to the EGM seeks shareholder approval for anew provision enabling the Board to require Ordinary Shares held by USShareholders to be sold to non-US persons.
