Independent News & Media PLC30 April 2007 INDEPENDENT NEWS & MEDIA PLC CONVENES EGM Dublin/London - 30thApril 2007: Independent News & Media PLC ('INM') (ticker:INWS.I; INWS.L) has today issued a document to its shareholders containingdetails on the proposed restructuring of its interest in APN News & MediaLimited ('APN') by means of the offer for APN by the Consortium, of which INM isa member, as announced on 17th April 2007 (the 'Circular'). The transaction requires, inter alia, the approval of the shareholders of INMand this is being sought at an extraordinary general meeting of the Companyconvened to be held at 11.00 a.m. on 18 May 2007 at the Citywest Hotel, Saggart,Co. Dublin, Ireland. The required meetings of APN shareholders have also been convened by means ofthe issue of the Scheme Booklet to APN shareholders on 20th April 2007 and thesemeetings are convened to be held in Sydney, Australia on 25th May 2007.
