In his new role, Dr. Meissner, who has more than 30 years of experience invarious fields of telecommunications, will take responsibility for theday-to-day running of the company and ensure that it delivers on its goals. NGMNLtd. aims to develop a set of key requirements for a future wide area mobilebroadband network that will give customers competitive and highly interoperablebroadband performance. As well as chairing key committees, Dr. Meissner will also oversee a permanentsupport team which is yet to be recruited. Dr. Meissner said he was lookingforward to playing a key role in such an important cross-industry initiative. In his most recent role, Dr. Meissner was Corporate Vice President for Qualityand Performance with the Orange Group where, in addition to his operationalresponsibilities, he played a key role in developing the NGMN initiative. Beforethat, he served as Chief Technical Officer with Orange Communications inSwitzerland.
