Johnson Matthey PLC30 May 2007 For release at 7.00 am on Wednesday 30th May 2007 Johnson Matthey Appoints New Non-Executive Director Johnson Matthey Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Dorothy Thompsonas a non-executive director of the company with effect from 1st September 2007. Dorothy Thompson, aged 46, is currently Chief Executive of Drax Group plc. MrsThompson joined the board of Drax Group plc as Chief Executive in 2005. Prior tojoining Drax she was head of the European business of the global powergeneration firm, InterGen. First starting her career in banking she has hadsenior management roles in the UK, Asia and Africa. There are no other disclosures required in respect of Dorothy Thompson pursuantto Rule 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority.
