Ila Group Limited
("Ila" or "the Company")
New Finland retailer
Ila (AIM: ILA) is pleased to announce a new contract to supply Kesko Corporation ("Kesko"), one of Finland's largest food retailers, to supply its Ila Dusk. The Dusk is a personal alarm that emits a piercing, high decibel female scream designed to shock and disorientate an attacker.
The Dusk will be sold through all of Kesko's 68 K-citymarket hypermarkets. If this initial order is successful, it is hoped that other products, including some of the new Ila products due to be launched during this year, will be rolled out across the entire portfolio of Kesko's stores.
Kesko generated revenues of €8.4 billion in 2009, through around 1,000 food retail stores and another 1,000 stores in the home, speciality goods and building trades. They operate in many other Nordic and Baltic countries, including Sweden, Norway and Russia.
Simon McGivern, Chief Executive Officer of Ila, commented: "We are delighted that a retailer with the reputation and size of Kesko has recognised the potential of Ila. We hope that if the Dusk performs well in Kesko's K-citymarket hypermarkets, this will lead to the roll out of Ila's products across Kesko's entire portfolio of stores.
This contract means Ila now sells its products in Britain, North America and Continental Europe. We intend to use this deal as a springboard to further territories within Europe."
